How healthy are our rivers, creeks, and coasts?

Thursday 20 July will see the release of the 2023 Townsville Dry Tropics Waterways Report Card, revealing the state of our local waterway environments, giving grades for:

  • Water quality
  • Waterways habitat
  • Fish life
  • Litter.

Areas covered by the report include Ross River, the Ross and Black Catchments, the Bohle River, Halifax and Cleveland Bays, and Magnetic Island.

The Report Card will also share the outcomes of a recent Urban Water Stewardship assessment — giving Townsville City Council scores for its management of urban water.

To mark the day we’ll be hosting two events:

2.30 to 5pm: Healthy Waters Arvo — Community event on The Strand — join us for a free sausage, meet some native wildlife, and celebrate our local waters! Learn more.

5.30 to 9pm: Evening networking event to formally launch the 2023 Townsville Dry Tropics Waterways Report Card. Drinks, dinner and trivia for those leading the waterways conversation in our region. Rockpool Pavilion, 54 Howitt St, North Ward Townsville. Want a ticket for your organisation? Contact us.
